Red Rocks and Warrior Dash!

On Friday night, a big group of us piled into a Hummer limo and headed to Red Rocks to watch Rodrigo y Gabriela. If you haven't heard them, you must check them out...FANTASTIC MUSIC! Everyone had a great time in the limo, and it was a much better way to get down there than to drive yourself. If you have enough people, the cost is the same (or cheaper), than filling your car with gas. You also don't have to find parking and fight traffic! What a great night with friends.
The crew!
Lonie, Elisabeth, me and Michelle.
Ben, Matt and Pat.
Red Rocks at night (not a very good picture, sorry).
Denver in the distance.
What a cute couple.
On Saturday, Pat and I headed up to Copper Mountain for the Warrior Dash. It's a 3.27 mile obstacle course on the mountain. I was able to only get a few pictures since most of the obstacles were not accessible by the public. As you cross the start line, fire blew out from an arch. We then had to run/jump over two junky cars, run up a wooden plank with a rope to help if needed, over a huge pile of hay bales, through some tires and up the mountain. We traversed up through quite a few switch backs and then back down. After we got back down, we headed into the mud pits (being careful to stay under the barbed wire) and then into the tunnels (which were difficult to climb through after you were covered with mud). A rope ladder was next (also more difficult when covered with mud), followed by three short walls to climb over, a creek crossing and a plank to walk over. The final obstacle was fire. There were two fire lines you had to jump over then on to the finish line. We had such a great time that we are planning for it again next year and have our list of friends to join us. There were some great costumes, so next year we want to dress up.
Look closely and you can see the switch backs.

Some random girl jumping over the fire at the end.
Pat and I before the race...
...and Pat after. He opted to dive into the mud pit.
Two great warriors!
I opted to squat under the barbed wire instead of diving.
Warriors showering after their race. This was the worst part...the water was FREEZING!
