The Loch!

Last week was my 34th birthday, and as with each passing year, I am excited to start a new one. Many people may think I'm crazy, but I do really enjoy getting older. Each year brings new adventures, new challenges and many new memories. It's becoming easier to take the kids places and it will only continue to get easier. I am excited to share new places and adventures with my family.

With that being said, I went on a hike this weekend without them. Pat went fishing on his birthday, so I chose to do a hike with my friend Michelle. We headed to Rocky Mountain National Park and attempted to go to Timberline Falls. I say attempted because we didn't quite make it. The last mile or so was still covered in snow and we weren't sure exactly where the trail went. There were also some dark clouds rolling in, so we decided to turn around and head out. We did make it to the Loch, about 3 miles in, and it was gorgeous. It could possibly have been one of the prettiest hikes I've done in the park so far. The weather was perfect and the snow gave off a really nice cool breeze. It's one I would love to do again with Pat...after the snow melts!

My next adventure...Mt Evans! Pat and I are doing the Mt Evans Ascent on June 19th. It's a road "race" going 14.5 miles from 10, 600 ft to the summit at 14, 624 ft. My goal is to make it in the time limit which is 4.5 hours. I feel ready and really excited. I've also signed up for a marathon on Labor Day in Colorado Springs. I'm nervous, but at the same time excited to take on this new challenge. My friend Michelle is training and running with me, so that makes it a little more bearable than to do it alone.
