Steamboat Springs

Last week we were able to meet my parents in Steamboat Springs for a few days to hang out. Pat and I were able to get in a day of skiing (we would have liked to go another day, but the weather got worse as the week progressed) and had a great time. It's been about 2 years since I was skiing last, so it took me a little while to get my confidence up. By the end of the day we were searching out the black runs. I wish I had done that earlier in the day...turns out I had nothing to worry about. The weather did, however, provide some lovely conditions. It was really foggy at the top for most of the day and clear towards the bottom. We had snow, sun, wind and one complete whiteout to complete the day. Steamboat has some REALLY long runs. We went all the way to the top and skied the entire way down. I think it took almost 30 minutes...and my legs were screaming. I can't wait to go again.

We were able to walk around downtown and do some shopping, get some lunch and get in a short "hike". We went to Fish Creek Falls. It was frozen, but really pretty. The snow was falling which made the hike that much more beautiful. Don't get me wrong, it was only a 1/4 mile "walk", but Kami thought it was great. Steamboat is one of my favorite places I've been to in Colorado so far and I can't wait to go back.

Kami started swimming lesson today, and she did a great job. She even put her head under water all by herself. In true Amy fashion, I forgot the camera, but I promise to post pictures next week:)

On the way there!

We made it! Fish Creek Falls is in the background...frozen. I can't wait to come back in the summer and check it out. There's a hike to Long Lake just past the bridge that I'd like to do as well.
