Las Vegas!

This past weekend I traveled to Vegas to meet two of my closest friends and run the Rock "N" Roll 1/2 marathon. I haven't seen my friends for almost 2 years, so we had a GREAT time! Our weekend started off with the 1/2 marathon. I went into the race feeling great. I had trained hard for 10 weeks and felt I could meet my goal of 2:04, and possibly my goal of under 2 hours. The race started and I felt great, and was on track to run it in under 2 hours...until between miles 7 and 8. I started to get tired and then my shins and calves started to cramp. Needless to say, I didn't make either goal, but I did get a time of 2:09. I was slightly disappointed, but I know there will be other races. I also know that sometimes you'll have good races and sometimes bad ones no matter how well you trained. As my friends and I were talking, we decided if we were going to run again together, we would pick a 10K instead. That got me thinking. I don't know that last time I ran a 10K...my races are usually 5K's, 20K's or 1/2 marathons. Now I'm on a mission to see how well I can run a 10K. There is one in Denver next weekend. Maybe I'll give that one a try!

The rest of the weekend we did a little shopping, did a couple spa treatments, ate great food and we even snuck in some dancing. We tried to go the night of our run, but we were all too sore and too tired, so we ended up going the next night. It was a great weekend and I can't wait until we are able to meet up again!

I will TOTALLY run a 10k with you guys! There has got to be a fun one somewhere that we all can meet. Just give me a few (or more) months. :)
