Summer adventures!

For the better part of June, we've had some crazy weather (it makes me think we've somehow moved back to the midwest). Most of the day will be 90, then the afternoon and evening brings severe thunderstorms, rain, hail, flash flood warnings, tornado warnings and some spectacular lightening storms. Even though Colorado weather is unpredictable from hour to hour, we've been able to get out and enjoy the summer. Kami is really into bugs and stuff. Every time we head outdoors, she is always on the lookout. Her biggest find so far was a slug! She was pretty proud of herself and even let it crawl on her. My parents got her a "bug box" with tweezers and it has gotten a lot of use so far.

I bought a blow-up wading pool with a slide for the back yard, which Kami thinks is the best thing. The first time we put water in it, it was too cold to sit in, so Kami just walked around in it and wouldn't use the slide. I put Brennan in the pool and he started to cry...too cold for him so he lasted only a couple of seconds. The weather cooperated enough to leave the pool outside with the water in it, so it got really warm. Eventually, Kami started using the slide. If the weather is nice enough after nap, she uses it almost everyday. When Pat is home, she gets to go to the big neighborhood pool.

Brennan is growing like a weed. He turns 8 months old tomorrow and is such a happy baby. He's still not crawling, but resorts to turning himself 360 degrees and rolling where he wants to go. Who knows, maybe he'll skip crawling. He loves to be outside and is content to play alone for awhile. His all-time favorite activity so far is still jumping in his jumperoo, of which he's almost outgrown. That will be the last of the big baby toys, so once he's outgrown that, he'll have to resort to hanging out on the floor.

Our summer is going to be a full one this year. We went back to Iowa the end of May, my friend Angie and her two kids came to visit the beginning of June, then I went to my parents for a few days, my mom and grandma and great aunt just left yesterday, my sister-in-law and her family are coming for a couple days in July, I have my family reunion the first week of August, I am off on a girls weekend in Phoenix the middle of August with a good friend from college while Pat does a guys weekend with a friend from work. With a short break, we are off to the Steamboat Springs area the end of September for a wedding. It almost makes me tired to think of all we are doing, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Kami's slug.
Look at the "bug" I found.
Kami trying out the new slide. You can hook up the hose to the giraffe's neck and he will spit water.
Look at me in my new pool!
Mama, it's too cold!
Way too cold!
