The next day I flew to Phoenix to hang out with my wonderful friend, Katie. We hadn't seen each other since my wedding (which was almost 4 years ago), so it was great to hang out. We stayed at a wonderful resort for dirt cheap (who would have thought AZ would be cheap in the summer:) hee, hee.) that had a complimentary wine hour every night and complimentary tea and coffee in the morning. The pools were great, although we didn't do any swimming (somehow, swimming without our kids didn't seem quite as appealing). Both of us got a massage and did lots of shopping! Katie left on Sunday morning, and I didn't leave until Monday, so I had a day to myself. I ventured out in the morning to the Desert Botanical Garden (before it got too hot). I loved seeing the huge Saguaro Cactus...which by the way doesn't grow arms until it's 50-100 years old. I was able to get in a run on the treadmill and was then off to a 90 minute facial. Ahhhh...I didn't want to leave. It was nice, though, to get away and have some "Amy" time. I don't really remember the last time I did that and I came back quite refreshed! I did miss my kids and talked to Kami a few times on the phone...but they had fun at Nana and Papa's.
Pat was able to work on the basement a little bit and he got in a hike with his friend Mark. They headed up to the Snowy Range in Laramie, WY for the day and got some beautiful pictures. Pat said they hiked about 10 miles that day, so they were pretty tired when they returned.
All in all, everyone had a great time! Enjoy the pictures!
